Original ChopShop opening 11th Arizona location in central Phoenix at 7th Street and Thomas

Birdcall is the word at what was once a gas station on 7th Street and Thomas Road.

State of play: The former Speedy Pit Stop that closed years ago is giving way to the quick-service fried chicken concept on the southeast corner of the intersection, across from the Phoenix Country Club, according to documents filed with the City of Phoenix.

• The Valero gas station included a Chester's Chicken restaurant, so if you've been looking for a poultry fix, you're in luck.
• Information filed with the city's planning department gave no indication as to when the new Birdcall will open.

Zoom out: The Colorado-based chicken joint opened its first restaurant in the Valley in 2022 at Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard.

• Since then, more have opened at 7th Street and Glendale Road, and at San Tan Village Parkway and Williams Field Road in Gilbert.
• They've also got eight locations in Colorado and three in Texas, with one new spot coming soon in each state.
