    9 things to do in Richmond this October weekend: Horror Trivia, Oyster Festival and more

    It's shaping up to be a perfect fall-weather weekend in Richmond.

    Why it matters: We've got you covered with awesome things to do in town.


    Thursday

    😱 Horror Trivia at Blue Bee Cider will get you in the Halloween spirit with spooky-themed questions, a costume and silent scream contest, plus Red Vein actors roaming and terrifying attendees. 7pm. Free. Pets welcome.

    Friday

    🔪 It's Nightmare Weekend at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, basically Comic-Con for horror fans, with all the terrifying panels, customers and surprising celebs.

    • "Halloween" filmmaker John Carpenter will be there, plus the actor behind the Michael Myers mask and the dude who played Jason in "Freddy vs. Jason," and GWAR. Friday-Sunday, hours vary. Tickets start at $40.

    🦉 Maymont's Adult Night Hike invites attendees to see all its animals after dark, plus learn about them and purchase adult beverages. 7-8:30pm. $20

    💃 Salsa dancing on the Starr Hill Richmond rooftop will help set the weekend mood. If you're new to the dance, head over at 7pm for free beginner classes, 7:30pm for the salsa familiar. Free with 1 drink (can be N/A) minimum.

    👻 The Branch Museum of Architecture and Design is having a haunted open house with vendors, spooky stories from Haunts of Richmond storytellers, plus tarot readings and cocktails. 6:30-9:30pm. Free.

    Saturday

    🐷 Hog on the Hill , Church Hill's annual barbecue, beer and live music celebration, is back at Libby Hill Park in Church Hill. Noon-6pm. Free.

    🎉 Bamboo Cafe is throwing itself a 50th-anniversary block party in and around the Fan District mainstay. 1-6pm. $10 at the door with a portion of proceeds going to RACC.

    🦪 RVA Oyster Festival is back at Main Line Brewery where you'll find them raw, fried or steamed, plus live music. 1-6pm. Free.

    🪲 Get creepy and learn a thing or two at Henrico's Bug Bizarre at Deep Run Recreation Center. 1-4pm. Free.
