Fly from Utah to Sonoma County for around $60

People can now travel from Utah's capital to northern California's wine country for a fraction of the typical cost.

State of play: Avelo Airlines , a budget airline, is launching a nonstop service on Oct. 24 from Salt Lake City to Sonoma County, with one-way fares starting at $57.

• The flight will take off twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.

The intrigue: Sonoma County is home to more than 425 wineries. The county's climate and soil conditions are ideal for grape growers.

• For those who don't drink, there are also outdoor activities like hiking, biking, swimming and fishing.

Between the lines: California is one of Utah's most popular flight destinations, Bill Wyatt, head of the Salt Lake City Department of Airports, said in a statement.

What they're saying: "We look forward to inspiring travel this fall to Sonoma County and inspiring Northern Californians to explore all the Beehive State has to offer," the airline's founder and CEO Andrew Levy said in a statement.
