A cat video film festival is coming to Salt Lake City

An August film festival promises to introduce Utahns to cinema's most elevated genre: cat videos.

Driving the news: The nationwide CatVideoFest is coming to the Broadway Centre Cinemas for two screenings starting Aug. 31.

What's inside: The "festival" is a 73-minute compilation of "the latest and best cat videos culled from countless hours of unique submissions and sourced animations, music videos, and classic internet powerhouses," per the show's creators .

Purr it out: Proceeds from tickets are donated to local pet shelters and other animal charities.

What's next: Showtimes for the festival are 2pm Aug. 31 and 7pm Sept. 3.
