    Twin Cities weekend guide: Uptown Porchfest, Green Day concert, Ren Fest returns

    Local bands will take over dozens of houses on Saturday for the return of Uptown Porchfest , an afternoon of free music exclusively performed on front porches and yards.


    What to expect: Over 65 overlapping musical acts will be playing everything from emo jams to "mass accordion madness" throughout the Lowry Hill East/Wedge neighborhood, plus food, drinks and activities for kids in Mueller Park.

    • If you're traveling in, Metro Transit is offering free bus passes from noon to 6pm.

    Details: Saturday, 1–5pm in Minneapolis. Free!

    🇮🇳 Celebrate Indian culture at IndiaFest at the State Capitol Saturday, an all-day takeover with plenty of local restaurants, artists, businesses and performances — including a Bollywood dance party. Free

    🏊🏻‍♀️ Race through an inflatable obstacle course — in a dive pool — in Eden Prairie this Saturday, open to ages 8 and up. All participants must wear a life jacket. $16.59

    🎶 September hasn't ended, but Green Day is still coming to town Saturday to play through their albums "Dookie" and "American Idiot."

    • Also on the lineup: Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and all-female punk band Linda Lindas. Tickets from $89

    🎭 The Minnesota Renaissance Festival returns for the season Saturday with a "Once Upon a Time" fairy tale-themed weekend.

    🦋 Surround yourself with monarch butterflies at the Bloomington Education and Visitor Center's monarch tagging Sunday.

    • The educational activity will help biologists track the monarch migration down to Mexico; open to all ages and no experience required. Free
