New exhibit reinterprets Fruitlands Native American art through an Indigenous lens
Two exhibits in the Four Seasons Gallery at The Trustees of Reservations Fruitlands Museum portray the reinterpretation of the museum’s rich collection of Native American art. Objects collected by Clara Endicott Sears in the early 20th century are shown alongside more contemporary pieces from artists across the country. The show is curated by Tess Lukey, an Aquinnah Wampanoag tribal member who was hired by The Trustees in October 2022 as the associate curator of Native American art and charged with reinterpreting the Fruitlands collection through a Native lens.
JM Coull wins 2016 ABC National Safety Excellence Award at diamond level
Maynard, MA JM Coull received its ABC National Safety Excellence Award for 2016. In order to be eligible, firms must have achieved a 2016 ABC Safety Training Evaluation Process (STEP) Award at the Diamond, Platinum, or Gold level. JMC was qualified at the Diamond level. With semesterly housing rates approaching $10,000 per semester, Northeastern dorms are more than 25% pricier than they were 20 years ago, when accounting for inflation. Off-campus housing isn’t much cheaper — a recent report ranked Northeastern the eighth most expensive college to live off-campus in the United States, just behind Harvard (ranked seventh) and Boston University (ranked sixth). Three local Freemason organizations awarded $66,000 in scholarships last Monday to 27 graduating students pursuing a college degree or technical certificate. MIAMI — On a column next to Jarren Duran’s locker in the Red Sox’ clubhouse at Fenway Park, a two-page letter from Major League Baseball is posted for everyone to see. The letter, addressed directly to Duran, is from Michael Hill, the league’s senior vice president of on-field operations. It’s an official warning that Duran violated policies by wearing a custom-made undershirt that says “F--- ‘Em.” in a postgame interview with NESN’s Jahmai Webster after Duran hit a walk-off single to beat the Blue Jays in a comeback win June 24. One page of the letter is Hill’s warning that Duran shouldn’t be seen on TV wearing a shirt with expletives on it.
