One person is dead after crashing into a tree and utility pole early Sunday outside Aynor, according to South Carolina Master Trooper William Bennett.

Jared Marlowe, 20, of Aynor, died on the scene about 4:30 a.m. from multiple traumatic injuries, according to the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

The person was driving a Chevrolet SUV west along Nichols Highway when, near the intersection with Joyner Swamp Road, they ran off the road. The SUV then hit a tree and utility pole, leaving the SUV trapped and causing the utility lines to go down, according to Horry County Fire Rescue. This happened around 4:36 a.m.

The driver was the sole occupant and information on the deceased has not been released. Horry County Fire Rescue responded to the crash.
