OMAHA, Neb. — About 300 Nebraskans packed a room at the University of Nebraska Omaha alumni center for a bipartisan-organized listening session on property taxes Sunday. State Sens. Christy Armendariz, Carol Blood, John Cavanaugh, Machaela Cavanaugh, Terrell McKinney, Jane Raybould, and Merv Riepe listened to residents from the metro and urban areas. Most concerns from taxpayers centered around the impact on local schools and the governor's absence from the listening session.

It wasn't a thing of beauty, but Hastings rallied from an early five run deficit to down the Bison 10-9 Sunday. The Sodbusters never led until Tyler Welsh's fielder's choice grounder scored Bryce Ronken in the 10th. Jack Borgman went 2-4 knocked in a run and scored once. Kearney defeated Hastings, 7-5, scoring four of its runs in the bottom of the third inning. Hendrex Cochran earned the save for Kearney, having to step onto the mound, in the top of the fifth.
Second round of Summer EBT payments going out
LINCOLN — The second round of Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) payments will be sent out by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) today. Eligible households will receive a new Summer EBT card with $120 per child starting on July 19. Households will receive only one card with the full benefit amount for all eligible children.
