College football preseason Top 25 rankings are out and the Arizona Wildcats football team is ranked in both of the major preseason polls, at No. 21 in both the Associated Press poll and the US LBM Coaches poll .
Interestingly, some college football writers think that is too high for Brent Brennan's team.
They included the Wildcats on lists of the "most overrated" teams entering the 2024 college football season.
Arizona did lose coach Jedd Fisch to Washington, but the Wildcats return a lot of talent for Brennan's first season, including QB Noah Fifita and WR Tetairoa McMillan.

Athlon Sports : Arizona Wildcats fifth-most overrated team in college football entering 2024
Dan Lyons writes: "Brennan and his staff did a great job of holding on to key players, including the elite pitch-and-catch duo of quarterback Noah Fifita and wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan, Athlon preseason third- and first-team All-Big 12 selections, respectively. Attrition is almost guaranteed in college football now, especially following a coaching change. Arizona did lose a number of key players, notably along the defensive line, where three players left with Fisch for Washington. On paper, the team could compete for a Big 12 title in the first year of its new conference affiliation, but with all of the change within the program, it would be wise to temper expectations."
FOX Sports : Arizona most overrated team by title odds for 2024 season
It writes: "Arizona has a quarterback-wide receiver duo that FOX Sports' Joel Klatt said could be the best in the nation in 2024. That seemed to impress AP Top 25 voters; they ranked the Wildcats No. 21 in the preseason poll. Oddsmakers, however, aren't as impressed. Arizona's +30000 odds to win the title are currently tied for 31st in the nation."

Justin Martinez writes: "Quarterback Noah Fifita and wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan are a lethal duo, and the Wildcats still have a strong offensive line despite losing Jordan Morgan to the NFL Draft. But Arizona got hit with a setback when head coach Jedd Fisch left for Washington, and it lost a few key players such as lead running back Jonah Coleman to the transfer portal. The No. 3 spot on this is generous for a team under a newly-hired head coach Brent Brennan."
FOX Sports : Wildcats most overrated team by win total for 2024 season
It writes: "Arizona is also viewed as the most overrated team in the preseason Top 25 when you compare them to the projected win totals. The Wildcats' 7.5-win total is tied for 34th among FBS teams."

A much different view of Arizona Wildcats in 2024
Not everyone thinks the Wildcats are overrated entering 2024, however.
College Football News' Pete Fiutak included Arizona on a list of three teams that are actually underrated entering the season, writing: "Uhhhhhh, coaches? You did see that Arizona didn't lose that much despite the coaching change, right? Brent Brennan is a strong get to take over."
