The southbound lanes of State Route 87 were closed south of Rye on Friday evening due to a vehicle fire, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

About 4:40 p.m., ADOT reported the fire south of the SR 87 and State Route 188 junction, leading to the closure of the southbound lanes on SR 87.

At about 6:20 p.m., the left lane of southbound SR 87 reopened, according to ADOT.

By 7 p.m., both southbound lanes had reopened.

ADOT earlier redirected traffic on SR 188.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety confirmed the vehicle fire and said there were no reported injuries.

This is a developing story, check back for more information.
