The Arizona Diamondbacks ' Pavin Smith had himself a game on Sunday in his team's 12-6 win over the Houston Astros .

Smith hit a three-run home run in his first at-bat, a grand slam in his second and a solo shot in his third, finishing the night 3-for-4 for three home runs, eight RBIs and a walk.

Not a bad day at the office.

Smith's explosion couldn't have come at a better time for Arizona. The Diamondbacks have been struggling, while the New York Mets have been surging.

Arizona is in a four-team race for three National League wild-card MLB playoff berths , with the DBacks a half-game behind the San Diego Padres and 1.5 games ahead of the Atlanta Braves and Mets.
