The human-caused Point Fire grew to 746 acres on Wednesday as fire crews worked to contain the wildfire burning north of New River in the Tonto National Forest.

Crews initially responded to the wildfire on Tuesday evening and determined it was human-caused but investigators were still determining how it started.

Tonto National Forest posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday morning that the fire was at 0% containment, adding that firefighters were focusing their efforts on keeping the fire away from private property and infrastructure southwest of where it was burning near Fig Spring.

The account said one engine was assigned to the fire and three additional engines had been ordered. It urged people to avoid Forest Road 41 as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.
