Arizona State football vs Texas State officials slammed for final play: 'Amateur hour'

On fourth down with his team leading 31-28 on Thursday night , Arizona State QB Sam Leavitt took the snap, backpedaled six yards and took a knee, giving ASU the victory over Texas State .

Or so we thought.

After a lengthy review, the officials called the teams back onto the field and gave Texas State one final play with 1 second left on the clock from its own 30-yard line. ASU was able to recover a fumble on the play, preventing a miracle from the Bobcats , but social media was dumbfounded by the decision to give Texas State another play.

The ESPN broadcast of the game had even ended. It didn't air the final play, having already switched to SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt.
