This has been a remarkable year for space enthusiasts — 2024 has been filled with breathtaking celestial events from the stunning solar eclipse in April to the partial lunar eclipse in September .

Adding to the spectacle, the rare appearance of the Devil Comet has graced our nights, while the enchanting Northern Lights have painted the skies in vibrant colors. We've also witnessed the beauty of full moons, supermoons and meteor showers.

As we approach the final months of 2024, there are still some notable astronomical phenomena to look forward to. Mark your calendars for two more supermoons, three full moons and six meteor showers. Plus, find out how you might get a glimpse of the mini moon that will be in the Earth's orbit through late November.

Here are the remaining celestial events of 2024 .

    Full moon schedule 2024

Here are the remaining full moons of 2024:

    • Oct. 17: Hunters Moon.
    • Nov. 15: Beaver Moon.
    • Dec. 15: Cold Moon.

    Earth's mini moon

Earth will temporarily gain a second moon in the form of asteroid 2024 PT5, which will drift into our orbit from Sept. 29 to Nov. 25.

This mini moon, measuring about 10 meters wide, will be captured by Earth's gravity for approximately 56.6 days before returning to its original solar orbit.

Sadly, asteroid 2024 PT5 will be too dim to see with the naked eye or typical telescopes.

    Supermoons schedule 2024

There will be two more supermoons in 2024: Thursday, Oct. 17, and Friday, Nov. 15.

    Meteor showers in 2024

Six meteor showers will be visible between now and the end of the year:

    • Oct. 6-10: Draconids meteor shower: The Draconids are a minor meteor shower that will peak on Oct. 7, producing about 10 meteors per hour that can be seen in the Northern Hemisphere.
    • Sept. 26-Nov. 22: Orionid meteor shower: The Orionids are best viewed from the Northern Hemisphere and are known for their fast-moving meteors associated with Halley's Comet . They will peak Oct. 21-22.
    • Sept. 23-Dec. 8 : Taurid meteor shower: The Taurids are known for their long duration and relatively low meteor rate. They are visible in the Southern and Northern hemispheres. The Southern Taurids peak Nov. 4-5 and the Northern Taurids peak Nov.11-12.
    • Nov. 3-Dec. 2: Leonid meteor shower: The Leonids have produced some of the most impressive meteor storms in history. While such storms are infrequent, the Leonids are worth watching during the peak Nov. 17-18 and can be seen in both hemispheres.
    • Nov. 19-Dec. 24: Geminid meteor shower: The Geminids are one of the most reliable and active meteor showers of the year, producing a high number of bright meteors during the Dec. 13-14 peak. The Geminid meteor shower is most prominent in the Northern Hemisphere but can be seen in the Southern Hemisphere.
    • Dec. 13-24: Ursid meteor shower: The Ursids are associated with the comet 8P/Tuttle and the shower's radiant point appears to originate from the constellation Ursa Minor (the Little Dipper). The Ursid meteor shower peak will be visible Dec. 21-22 in the Northern Hemisphere.
