The Oakland Athletics played their final game at the Oakland Coliseum on Thursday, a 3-2 win over the Texas Rangers, ending their 57-year history at the venue (and breaking a lot of fans' hearts ).

Where are the A's playing in 2025? In 2026? In 2027?

Where do they eventually plan on moving in 2028?

Here's what to know about the future home of the MLB franchise, which had a lot of history at the Oakland Coliseum, having won four World Series championships there in 1972, 1973, 1974 and 1989 and has taken home American League pennants in 1972, 1973, 1974, 1988, 1989 and 1990.

Fans, take your seats: Wait! Oakland A's backers literally try to take chairs as era ends

Where are the Oakland A's playing in 2025?

The Athletics plan on playing next season (and the 2026 and 2027 seasons) at Sutter Health Park in west Sacramento.

The park is the home of the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats. The venue has a capacity of just over 14,000, which includes less than 11,000 permanent seats and grass seating in the outfield.

The venue is undergoing extensive improvements to be able to host an MLB team, but will still have a very limited capacity compared to other MLB ballparks.

Where do the Oakland A's plan on playing after Sutter Health Park?

The team plans on moving to Las Vegas and playing on the current site of The Tropicana, which is set to be imploded in October.

The ballpark is expected to be finished in time for the 2028 season, meaning the Athletics would play in Sacramento for the next three seasons and then relocate to Las Vegas, if all goes according to plan.

The new ballpark is expected to seat 30,000 fans.

The Las Vegas Aviators, the A's Triple-A affiliate, already plays in the city, at Las Vegas Ballpark in Summerlin, Nevada.

What other MLB teams have relocated?

Like other sports, baseball has seen a lot of movement in its history dating back to the 19th century. Regarding franchises that exist today, the oldest relocation belongs to the Baltimore Orioles, who were born in 1901 as the Milwaukee Brewers, played one season there before moving to St. Louis to become the Browns, and then again to Baltimore in 1954.

With that, here are all the MLB team relocations starting in the 1950s, with the Athletics set to join the list.

    • 1953: Boston Braves relocated to become Milwaukee Braves
    • 1954: St. Louis Browns relocated to become Baltimore Orioles
    • 1955: Philadelphia Athletics relocated to become Kansas City Athletics
    • 1958: Brooklyn Dodgers relocated to become Los Angeles Dodgers
    • 1958: New York Giants relocated to become San Francisco Giants
    • 1961: Washington Senators relocated to become Minnesota Twins
    • 1966: Milwaukee Braves relocated to become Atlanta Braves
    • 1966: Los Angeles Angels relocated to become Anaheim Angels
    • 1968: Kansas City Athletics relocated to become Oakland Athletics
    • 1970: Seattle Pilots relocated to become Milwaukee Brewers
    • 1972: Washington Senators (the second version) relocated to become Texas Rangers
    • 2004: Montreal Expos relocated to become Washington Nationals
