The Phoenix Suns held their media day on Monday ahead of opening their 2024-25 training camp on Tuesday. Here are some early quotes from the event: Check back throughout the day for stories by The Arizona Republic/azcentral.com sports staff

Mat Ishbia

The team owner was asked about the television deal with Arizona's Family that will bring 70 games to live local television this season: “We’re going to do things differently. We’re not following everybody else. We’re going to do what we think is best at all times. And sometimes I’ll be right, sometimes I’m gonna be wrong. But no one will ever question how much we care — about the fans, about the organization, about winning, about the culture, like, no one will ever question that."

Mike Budenholzer:

The Suns' new head coach was asked about a starting lineup featuring three guards: Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and off-season acquisition Tyus Jones, who will play point, and Grayson Allen coming off the bench: "We feel like our guys are going to be really good together, and mixing and matching them, and it’s not like you can’t have all four of them on the court at the same time. Grayson started a bunch of games, you know. Having him come off the bench we feel is gonna be something that is going to be really good for us.’’

Kevin Durant

He was asked about the benefits of the Paris Olympic experience: “Even though that was a condensed period, just a month, we crammed a lot of stuff in for that month, so it was good on the brain to understand every day what it takes to become a winner. Sometimes, you go through the motions throughout your career when you haven’t been on that podium sometimes, so it’s good to refresh the brain a bit.''

Devin Booker

On managing his heath as he enters his 10th season in the NBA, all with Phoenix: “I’m always a sponge. You’ll see guys all have their different kind of ways to stay healthy. KD is obviously somebody, you know, that I’ve watched closely ... he’s just a hooper. I think his love for the game is what keeps him going. And I’ve had plenty of guys around. Chris (Paul) was somebody who was over-obsessive about his body, taking care of his body, you know, so I take bits and pieces from everybody I’m around, and just try to implement it, but, you know, I still do feel really good."

Bradley Beal

On the addition of Jones as a true starting point guard. Last year, Beal shared the duties primarily with Booker, two players more accustomed to the two-guard (shooting) position. '‘It helps me, it helps Book, KD, helps Grayson, helps all of us, because now we can go back to being our traditional roles that we can flourish in, what we’ve done well.’’

Grayson Allen

On the addition of point guard Tyus Jones and Budenholzer decision to have Allen come off bench: “There wasn’t much of a conversation. I think we’re going to have a great team with Tyus out there as point guard. I know we had a lot of talk last year like, ‘Does this team need a point guard?’ and a lot of times I was kind of the guy who thought no, but there’s not many guys out there like Tyus.”
