    Bank of America customers report issues with online banking. Here's what to know

    Thousands of Bank of America customers reported issues with online or mobile banking on Wednesday.

    Downdetector.com , a website that monitors real-time outages, indicated that at its peak more than 18,000 customers were affected by the outage, which appeared to start at about 9:30 a.m.

    The company issued a statement Wednesday afternoon acknowledging the error.

    "Some clients are experiencing an issue accessing their accounts and balance information today," the company said. "These issues are being addressed and have largely been resolved. We apologize for any inconvenience."

    Downdetector also showed a large dip in reported outages to roughly 2,600 reports versus the 18,000 report-peak as of 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.

    Bank of America customers took to social media to share what was happening, with many users reporting issues with their account balances. Some posted on X, f o rmerly Twitter, that accounts were incorrectly showing a balance of $0.00.
