NFL stadium rankings 2024: Arizona Cardinals' State Farm Stadium among 'premier' stadiums

The Arizona Cardinals have "one of the NFL's premier stadiums," according to a recent ranking of NFL stadiums by USA TODAY Sports .

With a description like that, you'd think that Arizona's stadium, State Farm Stadium in Glendale, would be ranked very high in the stadium rankings.

Interestingly, the Cardinals' stadium, which opened in 2006, comes in tied for No. 13 on the list.

It shares that ranking with the Baltimore Ravens' M&T Bank Stadium and the Philadelphia Eagles' Lincoln Financial Field.

Of Arizona's stadium, Tyler Dragon wrote: "One of the NFL’s premier stadiums, especially on the western side of the country. Its sleek silver exterior is striking, and the retractable roof protects those inside from the desert sun. The entire field can be moved in a single tray which rolls outside so the grass can soak in Arizona's sunlight — and also clears the interior for events that don't require the turf. The Glendale-based venue, which is about 18 miles from Phoenix, is adjacent to the popular Westgate Entertainment District."

Which NFL stadiums are the best? Worst?

State Farm Stadium was behind the Indianapolis Colts' Lucas Oil Stadium (No. 12) and ahead of the Detroit Lions' Ford Field (No. 16) in the ranking.

The Seattle Seahawks' Lumen Field was No. 1, with the Green Bay Packers' Lambeau Field at No. 2.

The Minnesota Vikings' U.S. Bank Stadium came in at No. 3, followed by SoFi Stadium, the home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers.

The Dallas Cowboys' AT&T Stadium rounded out the Top 5.

The worst stadium, according to the ranking? That title belongs to the Washington Commanders' Northwest Stadium, which came in at No. 30 (in addition to the LA teams at SoFi, the New York Jets and New York Giants share MetLife Stadium, giving the league 30 NFL stadiums).

MetLife Stadium was ranked No. 29.

Arizona Cardinals' stadium much higher on Super Bowl stadium list

The Cardinals' stadium may come in tied for No. 13 on USA TODAY Sports' list of NFL stadiums, but it is much higher on a different list.

The stadium has hosted three Super Bowls, which puts it tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' Raymond James Stadium for third on the list for hosting the most Super Bowls.

Only the New Orleans Saints' Caesars Superdome (seven) and the Miami Dolphins' Hard Rock Stadium (six) have hosted more.
