    These are the richest areas in Arizona, from big cities to small towns

    With a median household income of $221,333, Paradise Valley is by far the wealthiest town in Arizona , which has a state-wide median income of $77,315.

    The small suburb of Phoenix is home to CEOs and celebrities like Michael Phelps. But how does Paradise Valley, with around 12,600 people, compare with other small towns in Arizona? And what are the richest large cities with a significant population?

    To find out, The Arizona Republic used the 2022 American Community Survey Five-Year Data to rank the top five richest cities in Arizona. The Republic also separated cities by size, listing the richest cities with a population over and under 50,000 people.

    Here are the cities with the highest concentration of wealthy people in Arizona.

    What are the richest large cities in Arizona?

    With a population of at least 50,000, these cities are the richest large cities in Arizona. Only one is outside of the metro Phoenix area.

    1. Queen Creek: Population of 61,788 has a median household income of $127,182.
    2. Gilbert: Population, 267,267. Median household income, $115,179.
    3. Marana: Population, 52,524. Median household income, $105,624.
    4. Scottsdale: Population, 240,537. Median household income, $104,197.
    5. Chandler: Population, 275,618. Median household income, $99,374.

    What are the richest small cities in Arizona?

    These are the richest cities and towns with a population under 50,000.

    1. Paradise Valley: Population, 12,672. Median household income, $221,333.
    2. Carefree: Population, 3,671. Median household income, $122,328.
    3. Litchfield Park: Population, 6,794. Median household income, $117,601.
    4. Oro Valley: Population, 47,053. Median household income, $101,394.
    5. Fountain Hills: Population, 23,739. Median household income, $100,317.

    What are the richest areas of Arizona?

    These are the wealthiest areas, no matter the size. This list includes census-designated places (CDPs), which are places with a significant amount of people but are not formally incorporated, meaning there are no local governments that provides services.

    1. Paradise Valley: Population, 12,672. Median household income, $221,333.
    2. Fort Valley CDP: Population, 1,734. Median household income, $138,824.
    3. Tucson Mountains CDP: Population, 11,171. Median household income, $138,158.
    4. Rincon Valley CDP: Population, 5,712. Median household income, $137,500.
    5. Rio Verde CDP: Population, 2,422. Median household income, $135,457.
