Ex-MLB pitcher Justin Dunn will throw off the mound on Tuesday for scouts in the Phoenix area. Dunn is the brother of Phoenix Suns ' 2024 first-round pick Ryan Dunn.

This was reported by MLB Network insider Jon Heyman on Thursday:

Justin Dunn was selected 19th overall by the New York Mets in the 2016 MLB Draft out of Boston College. He made his major league debut in 2019 for the Seattle Mariners. He played three seasons in Seattle, posting a 3.94 ERA in 25 starts (102.2 IP).

He last played with the Cincinnati Reds in 2022, where he posted a 6.10 ERA and a 1.581 WHIP in seven starts.

It is unclear as to which scouts will be watching him on Tuesday. Justin Dunn was once a highly sought-after right-handed starting pitcher who was drafted out of high school in 2013 (Los Angeles Dodgers) before his first-round selection in 2016. He allowed just 6.9 hits per nine innings in his four-year big league stint.

Justin Dunn's last time playing in a major league organization was last season in the Reds minor league system, where he played in the Arizona Complex League (rookie league) and with Triple-A Louisville. Across the two levels, Justin Dunn threw 3.1 innings and allowed two walks and two earned runs.

Justin will look to prove he has something left, as brother Ryan has looked to build his game on the hardwood this NBA preseason. Ryan Dunn has connected on 6 of 13 shots in the Suns' first two preseason games , and connected on 5 of 11 from 3-point range. He has recorded a steal in each game and swatted two shots in his last game.
