If you’ve been anxiously awaiting the annual Fortnite Halloween event “Fortnitemares,” you’ll have to wait a little bit longer.

The annual event was rumored to start on Friday, Oct. 11 , thanks to a mysterious in-game countdown that appeared earlier this month. And it seems that speculation was correct.

Fortnitemares will give players spooky skins to play with, like Leatherface from “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Billy the Puppet of “Saw” fame, plus free challenges and spooky rewards.

However, due to some technical issues, game developer Epic Games has announced that Fortnitemares 2024 will be getting a later start than originally planned. Here’s what we know.

Was Fortnitemares delayed?

Yes, the 2024 Fortnitemares annual Halloween event was set to start on Friday, Oct. 11. However, it's been delayed.

According to the X account @FortniteStatus , the developers are continuing "final preparations for v31.40, we are delaying the start of downtime by a few hours. We'll provide another update when we plan to take Fortnite servers offline."

What time will Fortnitemares start?

The X account @FortniteStatus up dated their post, stating, "In order to ensure a properly frightful Fortnitemares, v31.40 will go into downtime on Saturday at 2 a.m. ET.

For those in Arizona, that means the v.31.40 update will go into downtime at 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11.
