The 10th Annual Backpack Giveaway and Festival, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 3 in Pasadena, is preparing to provide essential school supplies to local students. Monterey Park’s New Solid Waste Contracts
At the March 26, 2024, council meeting, the Monterey Park City Council awarded an exclusive franchise contract for residential waste collection and recycling services to Ware Disposal. They gave non-exclusive franchise contracts for commercial waste collection and recycling services to both Ware Disposal and Athens Services. The new contracts will go into effect September 1, 2024 and terminate on August 31, 2031.

Men’s Basketball’s Hinton Wins Silver at William Jones Cup
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Basketball incoming first-year Robert Hinton earned a silver medal while playing for the Chinese Taipei Blue Team, at the 2024 William Jones Cup in New Taipei, Taiwan. The tournament was held at Xinzhuang Gymnasium from July 13-21. A guard from Los Angeles, California, Hinton averaged a team-high 13.4 points on 54 percent shooting, including 44 percent from three-point range, and 81 percent from the charity stripe. Hinton also added 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.4 steals over eight games at the tournament.
