Glendale Christian School (GCS) is not your average private school. Previously a mission of Glendale Lutheran Church, GCS is now owned by and partners with Thien An Trueliving Church.

GCS provides classes from Pre-K through 8th grade, and in addition to its comprehensive core curriculum, offers enriching classes in Performing Arts, Physical Education, Christian Education, and Visual Arts.

For over 50 years on 2nd Ave SW in Burien (map below), Glendale has been providing quality education in a Christ-centered environment.

What sets Glendale Christian School apart from other schools in the area is its emphasis on character development and independent thinking skills, all of which prepare students for success in today’s rapidly changing world.

“Glendale has been exactly what our family and kindergartener needed. We have been blown away by the teachers at Glendale. They are attentive, caring, and always focused on meeting children where they’re at. I cannot imagine sending my daughter to any other school in the area,”

    Natalie Cook, GCS parent.

“Over the past 10 years, Glendale has provided a safe place for my daughter to grow, learn, and mature in an environment that aligns with our family values. The teachers and staff are skilled, knowledgeable, compassionate, patient, and loving. As a parent, I have a voice that is heard and valued.”

    K. Arnold.

At Glendale Christian School, academic achievement alone is not enough for a student’s success. While standardized testing demonstrates that the majority of Glendale students perform at or well above grade level, a well-rounded education means there’s more to consider. Their mission is to provide an environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. They help students develop key independent thinking skills, such as problem-solving, effective communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and adaptability. Through intentional programs and initiatives, the school equips students with the skills and knowledge they need to be successful in today’s world. It is no surprise that students who graduate from Glendale go on to prominent area high schools and continue to be lifelong learners.

“We often hear from other high schools that they look forward to receiving students from Glendale as they are well-prepared for multiple learning experiences and environments,” said Joan Sandberg, GLS Director.

“Attending Glendale, from primary through elementary, taught me much more than just academics. It taught me the ways in which teachers can impact students’ lives and the positive influences they can be. My time there played a huge role in my desire to become an educator. I want to be able to support future generations in the ways I was supported by my past teachers there.”

    – Paige S., Special Education and Elementary Education major at WWU.
