Highline High School is set to kick off its 2024 football season with a highly anticipated home opener against the Mt. Rainier Rams, at 7 p.m. this coming Friday night, Sept. 6, 2024 at Highline Memorial Stadium.

This season marks a big milestone for the Pirates, as they move up from the 2A to the tougher 3A (aka “Kingco Crest”) conference, which is comprised of better teams like Bellevue (11-2 in 2023). Their new 3A rivals will also include Issaquah, North Creek, Lake Washington, Liberty (Renton) and Juanita.

Highline is looking to make a strong statement in their new division, and Friday’s game against the rival Rams from Des Moines will be a crucial test of their gridiron readiness.

New Head Coach JT Jackson has been preparing the team for the heightened level of 3A competition, focusing on both physical and mental toughness.

“I don’t see why we can’t be right back in the playoffs competing,” Jackson said. “I think we’ll surprise a lot of people especially with the coaching change a lot of people don’t know what to expect, but trust me we’ll be just fine. After week ten anything goes and I’ll pick my group every day of the week.”

Sports Illustrated Has High Hopes for QB

Sports Illustrated has high hopes for Pirates senior quarterback Ronan Rasmussen for this season:

“The Pirates’ senior quarterback is coming off a strong junior season in which he threw for 2,288 yards and 28 touchdowns. Rasmussen has a strong arm and good mobility, and he should be even better in 2023 with another year of experience under his belt.”

    It’s Also Highline High’s 100th Anniversary

This year will also mark the 100th anniversary of Highline High School, an occasion that will be celebrated throughout the year. The school’s rich history and longstanding traditions are expected to energize both players and fans as they take to the field.

Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Pirates as they embark on this new chapter in the school’s storied history. The game will be held at Highline High School Memorial Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. Tickets will be available at the gate or online via GoFan.co.
