    Free ‘Shine’ concert performed by Highline Community Symphonic Band will be Sunday, Oct. 27

    The Highline Community Symphonic Band will present a free concert titled “Shine!” on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Highline High School Theater (map below).

    This newly-built theater is located across from the ball fields at the back of the school.

    The performance, conducted by Corinne Smith, will feature a collection of glowing musical works from a variety of renowned composers, including Gustav Holst, Leonard Bernstein, Florence Price, Danny Elfman, Frank Ticheli, David Maslanka, John Philip Sousa, and even a piece by the Icelandic artist Björk.

    The concert promises an afternoon of captivating band music, showcasing diverse styles and periods.

    The Highline Community Symphonic Band receives partial funding from the City of Burien and King County’s 4Culture, supporting the arts in the local community.

    The concert is open to the public and free of charge, offering a wonderful opportunity for the community to enjoy live music.
