    PUBLIC EVENTS

    Food Truck Weekend

    Fridays and Saturdays take on a party atmosphere as diverse food trucks roll into Founder’s Square. The fun is amped with live music in the bandshell from 6 to 8 p.m. on Fridays and from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturdays. Bring lawn chairs and enjoy tasty treats, marvelous music and the good company of family and friends.

    Square Scoops Ice Cream Cart

    Every Saturday and Sunday at noon, the Square Scoops Coffee & Creamery ice cream cart begins its trek from Cypress Lodge to tour residential communities, kids’ hangouts and business areas around town until 4 p.m. Listen for the clarion call to enjoy frozen treats and cold beverages.

    Happy Hour at Slater’s

    Slater’s Goods & Provisions in Founder’s Square offers happy hour specials from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. The specials include $4 frozen drinks and house wines, $3 draft beer and $5 mixed drinks. On Fridays, an outdoor bar is set up under the arbor to complement the bandstand music and food trucks in Founder’s Square.

    Monthly Art Classes

    Unleash your inner artist at Lake Timber Lodge on Thursday, Aug. 15 and Sept. 19, during a fun evening of painting and socializing with a local artist. For $35, all the supplies will be provided, as well as two drink tickets.

    Casino Night Fundraiser

    Spend an evening of fun at the Casino Night Fundraiser! It’s happening at the Field House Café from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24. Indulge in classic casino games, savor delicious dining and enjoy live entertainment, all supporting the Octagon Wildlife Sanctuary. Tickets are $25 per player.

    Traveling Library

    From 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28 and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at Lake Timber Lodge, the Babcock Ranch Lifestyle Department and Charlotte County Libraries will unveil a unique traveling library. This event promises a rich collection of books, including classics, bestsellers and undiscovered gems designed to whisk readers away to different worlds. Attendees can sign up for a library card, check out books and even make special requests with the help of an on-site librarian. Returns are also accepted.

    Labor Day Tailgate Party

    A celebration dedicated to American workers and the exciting kickoff of the football season. This festive gathering is set for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 in Founder’s Square. Dive into the fun with mouth-watering burgers and hotdogs, enjoy the lively tunes of musical entertainment and watch as the kids delight in various games on the lawn. Don’t forget to bring your blankets and chairs for a cozy setup.

    Laugh Out Loud Comedy Night

    Enjoy a hilarious night out from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 31 at the Field House. It’s your chance to see Al Ernst, awarded Carnival Cruise Lines Entertainer of the Year, along with the opening act by Bob Cattel. This event promises a clean adult comedy show filled with side-splitting jokes and a selection of delicious drinks. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. all attendees must be 18 or older.

    Labor Day Golf Cart Parade

    Prepare for an exciting Labor Day with a golf cart parade at Founder’s Square at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 2. Decorate your golf cart with your favorite NFL or college football team swag and join the fun! Parade assembly starts at 9:45 a.m.

    PARKS & REC LEAGUES AND CLASSES

    Babcock Jams

    This music program is for residents of any age who want to play an instrument or sing. Classes and private lessons are forming, and teachers and students are currently being recruited. Email babcockjams@gmail.com and join the Babcock Jams group on Facebook to discuss your interests.

    Youth Tennis Program

    A tennis program for children ages 4 to 10 is running now through Saturday, Aug. 31 at Jack Peeples Park. The program, guided by Andrew Spichkin with a Master of Science in Sports Management, offers beginner and intermediate levels for $125. Participants will focus on developing fundamental skills and improving consistency and accuracy. Remember to bring water bottles and rackets!

    Youth Cheer/Tumbling Program

    The program, designed for children aged 5 to 11, offers a 7-week course in cheer and tumbling essentials through Sept. 16. Directed by Katie Smith, the program provides an opportunity for students to learn and perform a routine. Classes are on Mondays at the Field House, alternating between courts for diversity in environment. With a registration fee of $105, the course includes beginner sessions from 5 to 6 p.m. and intermediate from 6 to 7 p.m.

    Hip Hop Dance Program

    Get ready for a new hip hop dance program for kids aged 6 to 12! Running now through Saturday, Sept. 21, the program takes place at the Field House Court 3 every Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m. It costs $105 and offers an exciting journey through various hip hop dance styles. The program aims to ignite a passion for dance in a supportive and non-judgmental environment, focusing on music appreciation, body awareness and fundamental hip hop moves.

    Jiu-Jitsu for Kids

    This class for ages 4 to 11 integrates self-defense techniques, physical conditioning and skill-oriented games to improve a child’s motor skills, agility and flexibility. Learn the fundamentals from purple belt Thomas Kurz from 9 to 10 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 4 to 5 p.m. Thursdays at Cypress Lodge and Tuesdays at the Field House Café. The cost is $100 monthly for parks and recreation members or $125 for non-members.

    Power Yoga

    Get ready for an energizing series of Power Yoga classes with new instructor Debra Brooks from 9 to 10 a.m. every Thursday at Cypress Lodge. The practice includes Sun Salutations to build strength and heat in the body, twists, balancing poses, back bends, core work, hip openers and culminates in savasana. The class costs $35 for the month. Bring your water bottle, yoga mat and towel, and be prepared to sweat!

    Preschool Pastimes Dance Class

    For potty-trained children aged 3 to 5, the class takes place from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays at Cypress Lodge for $55. Under the guidance of Instructor Stephanie Espinosa, the class focuses on creative movement activities aimed at enhancing motor, listening and social skills through music, song, dance, basic ballet and tumbling. Participants are required to wear leotards, tights and ballet shoes and are advised to bring a water bottle.

    Tai Chi

    Experience the enriching practice of tai chi at Cypress Lodge, led by Sifu Kamille Louis, owner and head instructor of Combat CFMA. With over 40 years of teaching experience and certifications in 10 different arts, Louis offers a unique blend of physical and meditative training from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The cost is $40 per month for park and recreation members and $50 per class for non-members.

    Tiny Toes Dance Class

    A creative movement class for children from walkers to 4 years of age is held from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays at Cypress Lodge. Led by instructor Stephanie Espinosa, it’s a great opportunity for children to strengthen muscles, develop flexibility and bond with their guardians. The cost is $55; participants should wear comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle.
