Atrium hospital earns Joint Commission spinal surgery accreditation
Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health Pineville has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification in Spine Surgery. This is the third Atrium Health hospital to earn a surgery designation from The Joint Commission, and the facility is one of just 23 in the country to have a Gold Seal in spine surgery, according to a July 18 news release from the health system.

After celebrating a very successful 2nd year, the Lexington Book Festival is preparing for the 3rd Annual Lexington Book Festival, which is scheduled for March 22, 2025. Last year the streets of Uptown Lexington were filled with book lovers that packed the galleries of Arts Davidson County located at 202 North Main Street eager to see some of their favorite authors. From the meet and greet at Bull City Ciderworks hosted by media sponsor, Davidson Local to the on stage discussions with authors. The Lexington Book Festival was a weekend of enjoyment. The 2nd Annual Lexington book Festival welcomed twenty authors including Crystal Smith Paul, Annette Saunooke Clapsaddle, Alan Gratz, Jo Hackl, Charlie Lovett, Amber Smith and Ed Southern. Moore County All-Stars become first team in region to play in Dixie Softball World Series
The 12-and-under Moore County Softball All-Stars are the first team from the region to ever play in the Dixie Softball World Series."I mean it really is a big deal," head coach Megan Jackson said.The team placed third in the district tournament and then finished second at states.All that is left is to travel to East Ouachita, Louisiana, for the World Series."From practice one I looked them in the eyes and I said 'Our goal is Louisiana at the end of July,'" Jackson said. Two People Charged In Eastern Lincoln County Break-Ins
LINCOLN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE | Comments: 0 | Leave a comment. LINCOLNTON, N.C. - Two people are facing charges for separate business break-ins that occurred in the Denver and Stanley areas. One break in occurred on June 10, at a restaurant near the 500 block of Brentwood Rd in Denver. The suspect entered through a door after hours and stole an electronic gaming machine. The other break-in occurred on July 10, near the 6000 block of Old Plank Road. In that case the suspects entered the business after hours and stole an ATM machine that had several thousand dollars in cash inside.
New Amazon facility opens in Fayetteville
The giant new Amazon Fulfillment Center near Fort Liberty is starting to show signs of life. The new Amazon facility opened in June in Fayetteville at 6309 Bragg Blvd. The 1.3 million-square-foot-facility located in the Military Business Park was supposed to open in 2023, but a representative from Amazon told WRAL News the delay won't stop the company in its plans to hire 1,000 employees at the site.

SANFORD, N.C. (WNCN) — Nearly half of the golf carts at Sanford Municipal Golf Course are temporarily out of commission due to a lightning event Sunday evening. According to the city, the course is currently operating with 26 of its 51 golf carts. As a result, those with late-morning tee times will likely not have access to a cart.
