Charlotte Douglas International Airport Reports Major Departure And Arrival Delays
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Charlotte Douglas International airport is reporting heavy departure and arrivals delays due to weather conditions. According the airports tracker, Traffic is experiencing gate hold and taxi delays lasting 15 minutes or less. Arrival traffic is also experiencing airborne delays of 15 minutes or less.
Hundreds of Charlotte flights delayed again
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Tuesday was another day of airport woes at Charlotte Douglas International Airport for travelers facing flight cancellations and delays. On Monday, nearly 25% of flights into and out of Charlotte were experiencing delays, according to flight tracking website FlightAware. The numbers were nearly identical headed into the late afternoon hours on Tuesday.
Atrium hospital earns Joint Commission spinal surgery accreditation
Charlotte, N.C.-based Atrium Health Pineville has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Certification in Spine Surgery. This is the third Atrium Health hospital to earn a surgery designation from The Joint Commission, and the facility is one of just 23 in the country to have a Gold Seal in spine surgery, according to a July 18 news release from the health system.

Moore County All-Stars become first team in region to play in Dixie Softball World Series
The 12-and-under Moore County Softball All-Stars are the first team from the region to ever play in the Dixie Softball World Series."I mean it really is a big deal," head coach Megan Jackson said.The team placed third in the district tournament and then finished second at states.All that is left is to travel to East Ouachita, Louisiana, for the World Series."From practice one I looked them in the eyes and I said 'Our goal is Louisiana at the end of July,'" Jackson said. "They all said OK!"The girls are on a mission to return to Moore County as champions."It's never happened so it would be like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Amelia Whitaker said.The Dixie Softball World Series is a double elimination tournament. One break in occurred on June 10, at a restaurant near the 500 block of Brentwood Rd in Denver. The suspect entered through a door after hours and stole an electronic gaming machine. The other break-in occurred on July 10, near the 6000 block of Old Plank Road. In that case the suspects entered the business after hours and stole an ATM machine that had several thousand dollars in cash inside.

Lightning strike at Sanford Golf Course puts nearly half the carts out of commission
