The Southern Nash varsity football program, long a model of efficiency in the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 3-A East Region, has published its 2024 schedule on MaxPreps.com — bearing much similarity to last year’s docket.

The action kicks off at home on Aug. 23 versus East Wake and continues a week later at South Granville.

A season ago, the Firebirds won the same matchups by an average of 40.5 points.

Following Labor Day, the red-and-blue takes up another mix of familiarity, beginning with Fike on Sept. 6 and ending with Big East 2-A/3-A opponent Roanoke Rapids on Sept. 27.

Sandwiched in between are tilts with Nash Central and Southern Alamance, whose touchdown and conversion in the final quarter last fall preserved a 22-15 road triumph.

In addition to a bye week, the month of October features league dust-ups with Bunn, Rocky Mount and always-tough Northern Nash.

The regular season wraps on Nov. 1 at Franklinton, whom the ‘Birds solved last season in 45-0 fashion.
