BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Johnny Owens , youngest son of the late Buck Owens and a frequent performer at the Crystal Palace dinner club, posted a message on Facebook Thursday evening, seeking to clarify some apparent misunderstandings about the planned sale of the landmark honky-tonk.

Owens, who performs at the Crystal Palace this Friday and Saturday, wanted to make clear that the venue is not closing, but is merely for sale.

Buck Owens’ Crystal Palace, landmark honky-tonk, is going on the market for $7 million

The Palace is not owned by the family, he wrote, but rather by a foundation, and he personally is not on the board of the foundation. And lastly, he expressed hope that the foundation, the family and the city of Bakersfield can find a buyer that will keep the 28-year-old attraction open and thriving for years to come.

In closing, Owens said, “Let’s all stay positive and be kind. Life is short.”
