BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The streets of Bakersfield are saying that Trump will still win, but feel that a Kamala ticket would not be the worst option.

“It’s going to give the democratic party another opportunity to reevaluate themselves. So, this is going to be a tough battle for Trump,” said Jesse Gonzalez, a Trump merchandise vendor at the corner of Rosedale Highway and Coffee Road.

Gonzalez also thinks a Kamala Harris candidate would be good for the country.

“Well, she’s gonna be the first Asian and she’s gonna be their first woman, so if she does win it’s going to be a huge highlight for America too,” said Gonzalez.

Other longtime Trump supporters voiced concern for Biden.

“It was about time, I think it should have happened right after the debate,” said Yvonne Valdes. “It was a long time coming. Right after the debate I did feel sorry for Biden. It’s a shame that he didn’t step down a long time ago.”

Walmart Shopper Garrett Rowlend believes Biden’s withdrawal helps Trump.

“I think that’s what it is right now, I think everybody’s rooting for him, everybody’s Trump right now,” said Rowlend.

Rowlend’s friend, Dominic Ascione, reflected positively on the news.

“I think it’s more so a positive thing, rather than a negative thing. I think he (Biden) might even think that as well,” said Ascione.

Ascione also says that the democrats calling for Biden to drop-out was worse for the Democratic party.

“I don’t think they were very united, I mean they were all over the place in my opinion,” said Ascione.
