BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Bakersfield is forecasted to reach 107° on this Thursday. The record for this day stands at 116° dating all the way back to 1931.

We’ve already experienced 22 days above the triple-digit mark this month, a July dominated by triple-digit temperatures. Cooler changes are on the horizon. Heat wave number five is expected to end Saturday with temperatures scaling back to the low to mid 90s. In fact, we are expected to remain below average the whole weekend.

    Weather Wednesdays: Thunderstorms and Wildfires

A low-pressure system coming in from the Gulf of Alaska is expected to settle over central California, resulting in a much-welcomed cool down. On Thursday, air quality will be unhealthy for sensitive groups with an AQI of 143.
