    Manslaughter charge filed in deadly Hwy 178 crash

    BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Prosecutors have filed a charge of vehicular manslaughter against a 22-year-old man they allege drove on the wrong side of Highway 178, causing a head-on collision that killed an Onyx man.

    Glenn Dale Watson is also charged with three counts of driving the wrong way on a divided highway causing injury, and reckless driving, court records show. He’s due back in court next month.

    According to California Highway Patrol, Watson was driving west on Highway 178 around 10:30 a.m. on March 30 when his vehicle collided with another vehicle near Doyle Ranch Road.

    The other driver, Sean Gordon Stewart, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene, and a passenger in his vehicle seriously injured, officers said. Watson, of Onyx, and a passenger in his vehicle also suffered serious injuries, according to CHP.
