These businesses have all had to make the difficult decision for one reason or another, but now another business finds itself in a similar situation.

If we look at the number of hot days this summer, some Michigan cities haven’t had many hot days. A few cities are near normal on 90-degree days. Here’s a quick tally. There are several ways to evaluate whether a summer has been hot or not. The benchmark way is to take the daily temperature for the three months of summer. This is what NOAA and the National Weather Service use to compare this summer to all other summers. This metric can be a little deceiving in some years because we can have warm mornings and make the summer seem warm. On the other hand a very dry pattern for a few weeks can also make deceiving summer temperature totals. Dry air heats up quickly during the day and cools quickly at night.

International organization pushes for faster water quality tests in Michigan lakes
(CBS DETROIT) - The International Joint Commission, a collaboration between the United States and Canada, calls for more precise water testing in Michcigan lakes. Reports from the commission show that Michigan's water testing could be improved. "Sometimes, unfortunately, today's beach closure or advisory is based on yesterday's water quality problem," said Allison Voglesong Zejnati, public affairs specialist with the commission.The International Joint Commission reports that last year, about 200 of the 600 beaches in Michigan were monitored for bacteria.
