A Baldwin man who was accused of a scam in Suffolk County has been arrested again on a similar charge in Nassau, according to authorities. Yash Shah is accused of scamming a 73-year-old Nassau County man out of several hundred thousand dollars. According to court documents, Shah “retrieved 6 (1) Kilogram gold bars, valued at $390,607.45 from the victim who was deceived into releasing said property during a government impersonation scam. The defendant had no permission or authority to do so.” According to authorities, Shah lives in Baldwin and the victim lives in North New Hyde Park. Nassau police said the scam began when the victim received a notification telling him that his computer had been compromised and he needed to contact a number to “protect his assets.” Police said he contacted someone who said they worked for the Federal Trade Commission and that’s when he was told to buy the six gold bars. Shah was arrested in connection with a similar scam in Suffolk County last summer. According to court records, he pleaded guilty to one count of grand larceny in that case. One of Shah’s attorneys says he’s currently on probation in Suffolk. Another attorney told News 12 that Shah “is presumed innocent right now.” He is due back in court later this month "
