Summer is a busy season for Dunn Energy Cooperative, as they camp up construction and maintenance efforts (summertime should be called “construction season” around here), and it’s also a busy season for pollinators. The cooperative has a literal front-row view of the latter thanks to the wildflower field blossoming on its lawn.

Isabella Lyste crowned 2024 Barron County Fairest of the Fair
Isabella Lyste of Barron was crowned the 2024 Barron County Fairest of the Fair on Sunday afternoon as one of the concluding events of the five-day fair. Named first runner-up was Alexus Olson of Rice Lake, and crowned the first-ever Junior Fairest of the Fair was Cadence Holten of Hillsdale. Judges of this year’s event were Karen Germanson, Heidi Small and Doris Laursen. Fairest co-coordinators are Devon Lauren and Sarah Doyen. The program included introductions by all three candidates, a farewell from outgoing Fairest Elora Repman and a hello from visiting Wisconsin Fairest of the Fair Kelsey Henderson of Racine County. Fair Board President Russell Rindsig awarded the outgoing fairest her framed portrait as fairest and a share of stock in the Barron County Fair.

CLOUD — St. Cloud residents have a lot of research to do before the Aug. 13 primary election with 16 city council and 6 mayoral candidates vying for their vote. “This is by far one of the highest candidate turnouts I've seen since being in office," St. Cloud Mayor Dave Kleis said in early June. "It's encouraging to see that many people want to serve. There's a lot of great candidates too. I think it's a great opportunity to see new leadership."

2 Blaine daycare teachers charged with abusing infants in their care
BLAINE, Minn. (FOX 9) - Two teachers at Blaine daycare center have been charged after being caught on surveillance video being rough with multiple infants in their care. Chloe Kaye Johnson, 24, and Elizabeth Augusta Wiemerslage, 22, have both been charged with felony malicious punishment of a child under four, third-degree assault against a victim under four and two counts of gross misdemeanor malicious punishment of a child.
