5 candidates file to run for 3 seats on Lackawanna City School District school board

The candidate filing deadline for the Lackawanna City School District school board election in New York passed on May 1, 2024. There is no primary for this race. The general election is scheduled for May 21, 2024.

Three at-large seats are up for election, which means all registered voters can vote for the seats on the ballot. This is the alternative to a by-district election, in which only the registered voters of a particular geographic area may vote for a particular seat up for election.

All three incumbents—Kimberly Bukaty, Azaldeen Mohamed, and Mohamed Munassar—filed for re-election. Andrea Haxton and Brian Murphy are challenging the incumbents. The school board consists of seven total members.
