Scenes from the Vermillion Community Theatre's production of "Beauty and the Beast," staged in the Vermillion High School Thomas H. Craig Center for Performing Arts. The VCT has held three performances: July 12 at 7 p.m., July 13 at 7 p.m. and July 14 at 2 p.m. Final performance is Monday, July 15 at 7 p.m.
Ruling keeps abortion question on ballot in South Dakota
A state court judge’s ruling Monday keeps an abortion-rights question on the November ballot in South Dakota. Judge John Pekas dismissed a lawsuit filed by an anti-abortion group, Life Defense Fund, that sought to have the question removed even though supporters turned in more than enough valid signatures to put it on the ballot.
Traffic Delays Coming for Latest I-90 Diverging Diamond Project
The area's latest Diverging Diamond Interchange project is about to see a big change to traffic flow that will likely result in delays for the next few days. Eights Split Important Doubleheader with Harrisburg Maroon
Pierre Post 8 would earn a big split on Saturday in hot conditions at Hyde Stadium as the Eights would drop the first game 6-2 but win the second game 6-4. Harrisburg Maroon would get a two run homer in the top of the first by Lincoln Brandt as Harrisburg would lead the entire way. A wild pitch would score the Eights first run in the bottom of the first, but Pierre would have just one hit through six innings. An RBI double from Griffin Schlapkohl in the top of the sixth and Brandt’s bases loaded walk would be Harrisburg’s only other RBI, but a couple of wild pitches would help get the lead to 5-1 after six and 6-1 heading into the seventh. JJ Bucholz would have an RBI single in the seventh to make it 6-2 and the Eights had the tying on up to the plate, but couldn’t cash in any more runs. Miles Doyle would be tagged with the loss going five and 2/3 innings allowing just six hits, four runs, three earned, on four walks and eight strikeouts.
