This year’s Leadership Aberdeen class has been raising funds for the past several months to purchase a snow maker machine and snow groomer to make Baird Hill a safer, more usable sledding hill for families to use throughout the winter months. Gillette’s Landon Scalise to Run Track at Black Hills State
Landon Scalise, from Thunder Basin High School in Gillette, will further his track and field career at the next level after committing to Black Hills State University in Spearfish, SD. Branching out to help clean up
Some members of the West Whitlock State Recreation Area staff helped with cleanup in Pierre on Monday. The Oahe Downstream area was hit hard during a storm over the weekend, that knocked down trees and branches, and also did damage to area businesses. The members of Gettysburg’s river staff from the South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks chipped in to help at the park near Pierre, while others stayed back to tend to the park at the bay west of Gettysburg. Rapid City firefighters extinguish blaze, rescue two cats from fourth floor fire
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - A small fire occurred in a fourth floor unit at Tallgrass Apartments Wednesday afternoon. Rapid City Fire Department crews arrived quickly and positioned Fire Engine 1’s ladder next to the apartment’s balcony, about 40 feet above the ground. Upon arrival, the firefighters extinguished the isolated blaze and rescued two cats inside the apartment, who were reportedly frightened but unharmed.
