Baltimore County plans to work with two law firms to “proactively pursue and address legal claims against all those responsible for the tragic Francis Scott Key collapse,” according to a Tuesday press release.

The county announced its intentions to partner with firms Grant & Eisenhofer P.A. and Bekman, Marder, Hopper, Malarkey & Perlin LLC.

The county joins a host of other entities seeking out legal partnerships since a container ship struck the bridge on March 26, causing it to plummet into the Patapsco River. Baltimore City and the Maryland Attorney General’s Office have also hired lawyers since the bridge’s collapse.

“As the NTSB, Coast Guard, FBI and other organizations continue investigations into this incident, Baltimore County is taking these proactive steps to ensure the County is prepared to address the immediate and long-term harm caused by the collision and collapse,” read the press release from the county.

The Baltimore County Council is expected to vote on the matter at its next meeting on Monday, June 3.
