The Baltimore County Police Department is preparing for one its most highly anticipated events of the year.
National Night Out, scheduled for the evening of Aug. 6 this year, will once again garner eager participation from local law enforcement officials. The national community-building campaign, which began in 1984, aims to promote police and community partnerships through positive activities.
Furthermore, NNO is an opportunity for police and community members to interact under positive circumstances, which often is not the case.
Millions of U.S. residents participate in NNO across thousands of communities typically on the first Tuesday in August (select areas celebrate on the first Tuesday in October).
“Through scheduled events such as block parties, cookouts, games, educational workshops and more, the goal is to foster a spirit of togetherness to ensure that every Baltimore County community remains a safe and happy place to live, work, and play,” BCPD officials said.
“We invite everyone to turn on their porch lights on Tuesday, August 6 to demonstrate your commitment to your community and public safety.”
BCPD has released a partial list of events scheduled in local precincts. More events may be added, and some may change closer to the date, so be sure to check back when necessary.
