C-Mac doesn't want to see Yankees retaliate for Aaron Judge HBP: 'I want to win the game'

After both Aaron Judge and Gleyber Torres were plunked on the hand in Tuesday’s win over the Orioles, many fans clamored for retaliation, calling on the Yankees to protect their own, especially their captain.

But C-Mac wants no part of that, especially in a series that is as important as they come in June, and against an opponent that will likely be fighting with New York for the AL East title this summer.

“I don’t need to throw at the Orioles. It’s not a trend yet,” C-Mac said. “And I want to win the game. I don’t want to mess around.

“Why would I want to put baserunners on for [Gerrit] Cole? Why would I want to take the chance of something bad happening?”

C-Mac says it’s best for the Yankees to breathe a collective sigh of relief and focus on creating breathing room in the division, not settling scores when the HBPs on Judge and Torres were likely unintentional.

“If Judge gets hit in the shoulder and just shrugs it off and goes to first base, we’re not having this discussion,” C-Mac said. “He’s pissed because his season came this close to being a disaster. I’m more about intent and reason than the outcome of it. If I felt they were throwing at Judge…now we have a problem.

“I don’t feel like Gunnar Henderson needs to hit the deck to make up for what happened. I think Gunnar Henderson needs to head back to Baltimore with his tail between his legs, down four games in the standings.”
