We are counting down the days until training camp begins back around the NFL and with today being July 1, that it is in the near future.

In just a few weeks, the Baltimore Ravens will begin their ramp-up for the 2024 NFL season. The offseason is behind us and the Ravens have done the majority of the roster shuffling that they need to do. Baltimore has had a few players walk and a few others join the team.

Another addition may be on the horizon that makes sense for the Ravens. Here at A to Z Sports, we put together a list of surprise cuts that could happen around the NFL. A match for the Ravens may come from within the AFC North.

Pass rusher Joseph Ossai could soon be available from the Cincinnati Bengals

There is the belief that the Bengals could end up moving on from the exciting 2021 third-round pick out of Texas. John Sheeran provided more context on that issue below .

A year ago, I expected Ossai to be the Bengals’ most promising breakout player. His disappointing 2023 campaign led to the opposite outcome, and now he’s much closer to the roster bubble than being a franchise cornerstone. If sixth-round pick Cedric Johnson shines bright in preseason action, Ossai becomes expendable as a high-upside pass rusher who never achieved his potential in Cincinnati.

In 14 games last season, Ossai had 10 tackles and a sack to his name. Those numbers were down from his rookie season when he was able to put together 3.5 sacks in a 16-game season. Ossai is still just 24 years old, so there is plenty of time for him to figure it out.

Baltimore had Jadeveon Clowney exit after a career year with 9.5 sacks. Now, the Ravens will be relying on Odafe Oweh and Kyle Van Noy off the edge with David Ojabo and rookie Adisa Isaac as depth. That is a lot of unproven work in the room and no real standout.

The Ravens could stand a chance to take a shot on Ossai if he becomes available. A ceiling still exists for the 24-year-old and if he can’t hit it in Cincinnati, perhaps Baltimore is the spot for him.
