    Two men wounded in early Friday shootings, officer injured by illegal fireworks, Baltimore Police say

    Two men were injured overnight in separate shootings in East and West Baltimore, police said.

    Officers responded at about 2 a.m. to the 1800 block of Aiken Street in the Oliver neighborhood and found a 52-year-old man with gunshot wounds, Baltimore Police said in a news release.

    A few hours later, at around 6:30 a.m., officers responded to the 900 block of North Rosedale Street in West Baltimore’s Franklintown Road neighborhood. They found a man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds and resuscitated him before he was taken to a hospital.

    An officer was injured during Independence Day festivities Thursday night after authorities tried to remove “a large pile of illegal fireworks stashed under a tent” in Shipley Hill, police said.

    Baltimore Police said that “several individuals attempted to stop officers by grabbing the fireworks and assaulting officers” after authorities found the pile on the 2500 block of McHenry Street.

    An officer was taken to a hospital with an injury to the eye from illegal fireworks that were set off by suspects on the scene, police said. Three men, ages 31, 35 and 38 were arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct, police said.
