Police say at around 8:53 p.m., officers working out of the Southwest District investigated a “large amount of illegal fireworks” found under a tent on the 2500 block of McHenry Street.

In Maryland, fireworks that are prohibited by state law include Roman Candles, Sky Rockets, firecrackers, cherry bombs, smoke bombs, and any firework that is shot from a mortar tube.

Citations can be issued and fines can be levied for those who possess or discharge fireworks without a permit.
