    UPDATE (12:30pm - 7/19/24) :

    Statement from BWI:

"The conditions at BWI Marshall Airport are improving in the noon hour here at BWI Marshall Airport, but ongoing impacts of the global tech outage vary by airline. BWI Marshall airport administration leadership continues to be in very close contact with local airline station management. Flights are operating, and the airlines continue their work to fully resume operations. We continue to emphasize that travelers should please confirm flight status with their airline prior to heading to the airport. Airport personnel continue to distribute water for customers.

    Statement from Gov. Wes Moore:

"Maryland State transportation systems and Maryland systems at BWI are all working as intended, but specific airlines may have been affected by the incident and travelers should check with individual airlines for updates on any delays or cancellations. Our 9-1-1 networks and first responder systems have remained resilient, and we continue to monitor all systems to ensure they are running at full capacity. And after conducting a full review of all state systems, I am confident we know the issues that need our attention, and we will work continually until all systems are back to normal operations.”

UPDATE (7:30 a.m. 7/19/2024): The FAA says some, but not all, airlines are being impacted by the global outage. They include Delta, American, Frontier and Spirit. A few have resumed operations while others have continued a ground stop of their flights.

Some global airlines are also affected. Check with your carrier before you head to the airport for your flight.

The CEO of CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company that works with Microsoft, posted on X that they have identified the issue and have deployed a fix. George Kurtz said the problem was not due to a cyberattack.

He said the issue was a "a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts. Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted."

    Original story:

Microsoft users are reporting massive outages, impacting banks, airlines and media outlets.

The outage is impacting our station, WMAR, as well as stations throughout the Scripps company.

Microsoft posted on X that is it "investigating an issue impacting users ability to access various Microsoft 365 apps and services."

It said multiple services are continuing to see improvements, however, more companies are reporting outages.

The FAA said all flights in U.S. are grounded indefinitely until the outage is resolved.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
