Could The Ravens Reunite With 4-Time Pro Bowl Pass Rusher?

The Baltimore Ravens are going to be contenders in the AFC during the 2024 season. They were the No. 1 seed in the conference last season, earning home-field advantage throughout the postseason.

Unfortunately, it was not enough to help them get over the hump. They were defeated in the AFC Championship game by the eventual champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Heading into training camp, there are no glaring holes on the Ravens roster. This is a team full of talent, but even the best rosters can use some reinforcements.

For Baltimore, they could be on the lookout for some help on the defensive side of the ball. Over at Bleacher Report , Kristopher Knox has suggested they could reunite with a familiar face via trade.

That player is edge rusher Matthew Judon. Entering the final season of his contract with the New England Patriots, he is a prime trade candidate this summer.

The Patriots are in the early stages of their rebuild. They used the No. 3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft on quarterback Drake Maye and will be looking to build the roster up around him.

Turning 32 years old in August, Judon likely doesn’t fit the team’s timeline. It would be hard to imagine them shelling out a long-term contract, and reports have indicated that Judon won’t be playing the 2024 season on his current deal. At least, not in New England .

Judon has said those rumors aren’t true , but the rumor mill hasn’t stopped. With training camp starting next week, the Ravens would be an ideal landing spot for the veteran.

“The Baltimore Ravens should be very interested in pushing the Patriots for a trade now. Baltimore employed Judon for his first five seasons, is expected to be a Super Bowl contender in 2024 and lost 2023 leading edge-rusher, Clowney, in free agency.

Financially, trading for Judon’s $6.5 million base salary could be a challenge, as the Ravens have just $6.4 million in cap space. However, giving him the extension he wants with a backloaded contract could be a win for both parties,” Knox wrote .

There is certainly a need for another pass rusher in Baltimore and Judon is someone they know well. Working out a multi-year deal would be a win for both sides.

Judon would receive the extension he is seeking while playing for a contender. The Ravens would bolster an already strong defense, replacing the pass rushing they lost with Jadeveon Clowney departing.
