Orioles reportedly showing interest in Reds duo with deadline looming

The Baltimore Orioles are one of the top contenders to take home the 2024 World Series title.

Baltimore is loaded with exciting, young talent and there is plenty more in the pipeline as the Orioles also boast the top farm system in baseball. All in all, things are looking up for the Orioles. Baltimore currently sits atop the American League East standings with a 60-39 record and could get even better in the near future.

The Orioles have been fantastic this season, but have been bitten by the injury bug. Baltimore has lost multiple starters to injuries this season and clearly will be looking to add pitching help ahead of the July 30th trade deadline.

Baltimore reportedly is showing interest in Cincinnati Reds hurlers Frankie Montas and Nick Martinez, according to MLB Network's Jon Morosi.

"Sources: The Reds, swept by the (Washington Nationals) this weekend, are indicating to teams that they are willing to move players on expiring contracts," Morosi said. "The Orioles are among the clubs with interest in their pitching, including Frankie Montas and Nick Martinez."

Montas would be an option for the starting rotation although he is having a down year. So far this season he has logged a 4.85 ERA in 18 starts to go along with a 72-to-38 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 89 innings pitched.

Martinez would be a bullpen option and has had a solid campaign. So far this year he has logged a 3.88 ERA in 28 appearances with an eye-popping 56-to-9 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 72 innings pitched.
