Fans of “Homicide: Life on the Street” won’t have to wait much longer to stream the award-winning police drama series based on David Simon’s book about the Baltimore Police Department’s homicide unit.

All seven seasons of the show and the 2000 film “Homicide: The Movie” will land on Peacock on Aug. 19.

The series aired on NBC from 1993 to 1999 and took home multiple Emmy and Peabody awards. Created by Paul Attanasio with Simon among the producers, it had a cast that included Andre Braugher (Frank Pembleton) and Richard Belzer (John Munch), who both died last year. The show was based on Simon’s 1991 book “Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets,” published after Simon, a former Sun reporter, followed homicide detectives in the city for a year .

“Homicide” is one of a handful of Simon’s projects that have filmed in Baltimore . In a post on X last month, he indicated that the show might soon make it onto streaming.

“Word is that NBC has managed to finally secure the music rights necessary to sell [‘Homicide’] to a streaming platform,” Simon wrote.
