Ravens Trade For Jets’ Haason Reddick In Blockbuster Proposal

One of the big moves this offseason was the New York Jets acquiring star edge rusher Haason Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles. But a contract standoff has led to speculation about whether he could be on the move again, which has brought the Baltimore Ravens into the mix.

Reddick is seeking a new contract, something the Jets knew when they acquired him. A new deal could not be agreed upon before being acquired, but New York thought everyone was on the same page.

Alas, something happened between that agreement and the time Reddick was supposed to show up. He skipped the entire offseason program, including OTAs and mandatory minicamp and has yet to report for training camp.

The Jets don’t currently plan on moving him, but things could change as training camp moves along. This situation has the feel of one that could drag out for a long time.

As a result, Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report has pitched the idea of New York moving on from Haason Reddick. In Ballentine’s proposal, the Jets would be getting back the third-round pick they sent to the Eagles to get the original deal done.

“As for the Ravens, Reddick would immediately become their most effective pass-rusher. Reddick has had at least 11 sacks in each of the last four campaigns. Baltimore has Justin Madubuike coming back after a breakout season, but Kyle Van Noy led all of their edge-rushers in sacks last season.

This would give them the firepower up front to contend with the powerhouse offenses they will see in the AFC playoffs,” Ballentine wrote.

It would not be surprising if that is the route things took between Haason Reddick and the Jets eventually. They have drawn a line in the sand, cutting off negotiations until he reports to camp.

Alas, that report doesn’t seem like it will be happening any time soon. Both sides are digging their feet in, waiting for the other to blink.

The Ravens are true contenders in the AFC. Last season, they finished with the best record in the league and hosted the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC Championship Game,

We know how that turned out as the Chiefs went on to win their second consecutive Super Bowl. Adding a player of Reddick’s caliber would certainly help keep Baltimore among the upper-echelon teams in the NFL.
